Description

Few issues are as heartbreaking as the loss of service personnel to suicide, but unfortunately, it happens more often than most of us would like to know. For many service personnel, the transition from military back to civilian life can be a particularly difficult time. And all too often, unfortunately, veterans find the adjustment to post-service life too overwhelming and see suicide as their only way out.

Statistics show that this tragedy, a veteran suicide, occurs on average 20 times every day. And making matters worse, seven out of ten of these veterans are not receiving help from the VA. In light of this, the VA has identified suicide prevention as a top priority for the care of our nation’s Veterans.

Once again, Buds Gun Shop & Range is pleased to partner with an outstanding community service agency–Lexington’s VA Health Care System–to present a critically important seminar: “Suicide Prevention S.A.V.E. Training.”

The discussions will focus on:

Suicide as a public health issue;

Asking for help and talking openly about suicide;

Validating the experience of someone who is at risk;

Encouraging and facilitating effective treatment.

Learn how to recognize the warning signs and risk factors associated with suicide, and how to access the services that are readily available within VA Health Care. For example, the first step may be the Veterans Crisis Line (1-800-273-8255, then press “1”).

Whether you are a Veteran, or simply looking to help someone dealing with a difficult situation, we encourage you to attend this free seminar. The seminar takes place in the conference facilities at Buds Gun Shop & Range at 1105 Industry Road in Lexington KY and will last approximately 1 hour. This is a free event, open to the public, however, reservations are necessary as seating is limited.

Our veterans are the ones who voluntarily stepped up and put themselves into harms way on behalf of the rest of us, which means that we owe a debt, we have a responsibility to help them make a healthy transition to post-service life.

We look forward to seeing you!

Seminar begins at 6 p.m.; duration is approximately 60 minutes.
